Vanquish (PS3 and Xbox 360)
Studio: Platinum Games
Size: Full disc
Released: Oct 2010
Platinum’s over-the-top single player game about a roboticaly enhanced american fighting space Nazis from the future has me. I’m addicted. I love it. Its fast, hard, and fun *caughLIKESEXcaugh*. Sorry, couldn’t help myself.
Anyway, you play as Sam, pilot of the experimental ARS: a super suit that lets you (a muscular, yet still inferior American scientist) fight along side the steroid pumped space marines. You join your brethren infighting robotic space Nazis from the future who are trying to take over some space colony and their giant robot battle-oids called Romaovs and such… Did I mention they were from space?
Well the gameplay kicks ass but the story is…. absent. there is none. I can’t make sense of whats going on in the least. It makes sense while you play, and at the moment you play, but when you think about the details, or the whole picture… you realize that there is NO continuity in it. Its bazaar. The gameplay more than makes up for it though.
This game is M, but really, only at parts. The beginning shows people bing microwaved. They explode. Its cool. After that there really isnt much M-nes to it. there is the occasional F-bomb dropped by your character, or the head steroid marine, the Colonel. Thats about it, but I haven’t beaten it yet. Also, you get the occasional up-skirt of your hot dispatcher. She has a really odd name and for the life of me, I can’t remember what it was.
Price: Under $50 USD
Demo: Yes, 2 on the PSN
Fucked-0-meter: [*****_____] 5/10
Final Verdict: This is a REALLY addictive game. I adore it, even though it isn’t all that fucked up. You should go buy it now =D
