Ya, I know; this isn’t fair. Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 is going to destroy Battlefield 3 sales wise, we all know this; even if Battlefield 3 does look much better. But on the bright side analyst Michael Patcher doesn’t think the games are going to hurt each other too badly sales wise:
“I’d guess that around half of the console copies of Battlefield 3 will be bought by people who also buy Modern Warfare 3, so around 2 to 3 million will buy both. I don’t see much cannibalization of the titles.”
Alright so Michael Patcher thinks they both have the potential to do well, but how well? Patcher expects Battlefield 3 to sell 8 million copies, and Modern Warfare 3 to sell twice that at 16 million by the end of the financial year. After the fourth quarter Patcher expects an additional 8 million Modern Warfare 3 sales, and 2 million Battlefield 3 sales.
What are your thoughts? As great as Battlefield 3 looks, I’m slightly skeptical that it’ll sell 8 million.
