Activision has become the King of the Gods and the sole ruler of the gaming industry
In ancient times, the mighty Greeks believed in several gods. But even amongst these Gods lived a King of the Gods, the almighty, legendary Zeus. Greeks would pray and beg Zeus for forgiveness as they feared his wraith. Certain destruction and death would soon follow for any non-believers, which is why constant sacrifices, gold and temples were devoted to him. But why you ask? Why would an almighty King of the Gods bother with a mere mortal human? Why do kids burn ants with a magnifying glass? Because they just fucking can, that’s why.

Fast forward to the year 2011 and you’ll find Activision is the new King of the Gods. Like Zeus from ancient times, they rule the lands, take profits from mortals and are rewarded in the temples of gaming reviewers. Activision is feared and loathed, while looking down on us from the heavens. From their throne above the mountains, or at least their mountains of money, they laugh and taunt us. Their rise to power was slow and had them putting out a strong fight right from the first Call of Duty back on last gens consoles. Then with Call of Duty 2, they started their ascent to power. And continued to strive with COD 3 and took the throne with COD 4: Modern Warfare. At this time they had proved worthy of the title…. The King of Gods. But as the saying goes, there is nowhere to go but down.
And so the decline in development began. Since Modern Warfare, the series has been pumping out the same old graphically unoriginal game each year. Sure there are twists and a few changes here, but a change of underwear each year is a must not a bonus. But even with this “change of underwear” you can still smell the shit stains left from previous years releases. Right up until present day, where the stench is revolting. Don’t get me wrong, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 isn’t a bad game, it’s just a dated game. In fact, one could almost say it’s Call of Duty Modern Warfare 1 with new skins and weapons. Nothing original here, but this isn’t new information to the masses. So why is it that sales of a ground breaking movie like Avatar reach $1 billion in 17 days and Activision can exceed that in only 16 days? Reskined versions of the first Modern Warfare and boom, the king of the gods have done it again.
