The Walking Dead FPS Video Game Announced

Activision has announced a FPS ‘The Walking Dead’ video game for the PC, Ps3, and Xbox 360 next year. Activisions The Walking Dead FPS stars Daryl Dixon, and his brother Merle on a: “haunting, unforgiving quest to make their way to the supposed safety of Atlanta.”

There’s some reason to be concerned about the quality of The Walking Dead video game:

  • Published by notorious franchise milker Activision
  • The studio “Terminal Reality” are helming development after releasing their critically shunned Kinect Star Wars
  • The Walking Dead is a character driven series yet FPS are infamously known for putting less, and less emphasis on proper story based singleplayer

The bullet points may have finished, but that’s no reason to stop worrying about the potential quality issue we’ve built up from nearly nothing; expanding on point #2, Kinect Star Wars released April of this year, yet The Walking Dead is coming out next year, this could mean Terminal Reality was afforded a short development time (someone should be shrewdly grunting “Activision” through a cough about now) Traditionally a completely new game should be given a 3 year development cycle, while sequels usually take 2 years to development due to reused assets.

But hey, there’s hope; apparently the game will make use of optional stealth, feature scarce: weapons/general murder supplies, and the way you speak to other survivors, and the choices you make will affect whether players help you, and generally shape your experience.
