Darksider II Needs To Sell 4-5 Million Copies For a Sequel?

Darksiders 2 is coming August 14th, and JustPushStart is reporting that Vigil Games lead designer Haydn Dalton has stated that Darksiders 2 needs to sell 4-5 million copies to warrant a sequel.

Considering the original Darksiders sold a modest success of 1.2 million copies to consumers, 4-5 million is definitely an ambitious goal. Honestly, I doubt 4-5 million is really required for a sequel; after all Mass Effect 3 through all its: hype, praise, and controversy hasn’t reached 4 million copies sold yet, and God of War 3 (the top selling title in the 5-8 game strong series) has only sold 5.2 million copies.

Darksiders 2 is getting pushed a lot more heavily than its predecessor, but I’d be surprised if it sold anything over 3 million, and even more thrown off if the series ended with Darksiders 2.

Spread the word; help corrupt the masses.
