A while ago we reported that Twisted Metal was originally gunning for a Teen rating, but after the ESRB reviewed some footage mid-development, they said Twisted Metal would require a Mature rating unless things were cut, so instead the folks at Eat Sleep Play decided to go the opposite route, and take full advantage of the Mature classification.
Well it turns out series creator David Jaffe had different endings in mind before the team decided to make the game as twisted as possible:
“the game was originally a T and then became an M. But the movies were written and shot to be T (at least the first shoot we did) and so it was a real struggle trying to find the fun, comic book flavor of TM2 (the T rating) and merge it with the dark, depressing flavor of TMB (the M rating).”
We have one of the alternate endings above, and you can continue reading for another.
