I am a graphic designer with about 3 years of experience. Being in this industry, I cant help but be involved with video games. And as such, i found that it was hard to find out what games are messed up. So this is to help people play find the games that they want to play =3
Postal 3 has FINALLY been given a concrete release date! I guess it isn’t vaporware after all… After a tumultuous development cycle, Running With Scissors, TrashMasters, and Akella are seriously about to release what will be the most violent, irreverent, and possibly controversial game of this century! I can’t wait to maul some asshat with a fucking badger, or shoot down some old lady while riding a Segwey…
Now, I know what your thinking, “Yea yea, heard it before… didn’t believe you then, don’t believe you now.” Well, if you are in fact thinking that, FUCK YOU. ITS STEAM-OFFICIAL! CHECK IT, BITCH!
I collect coins. Yes, its true. May seem a little odd really, but its true. I keep a close eye on bullion/precious metal prices, and am well versed in my area of numismatics.
Recently I found a coin that has both disturbed and captivated me. I MUST acquire one. In short, it is THE most fucked up piece of legal tender ever.
Incubus, the alternative rock funk metal band from good ol’ Cali, has released a new album! It has a coherent style throughout all of the tracks, exhibits more masterful composition (some may argue that this is a bad thing), and is showing a more weathered and tempered style; as opposed to their old loose, experimental ways. While it does seem to be a little less “deep” and emotionally charged as some of their other albums, it definitely has a new edge. If you love incubus for what they were, you may not like this album. However, if you come into this open minded and not comparing the album to previous releases, its pretty damn good. I give this album an 7 out of 10. Passable, but definitely worth looking into.
Today was a depressing day for news… More so than usual. I snapped open my weekend edition of the Walls Street Journal to find an article about two attacks on the Scandinavian country of Norway. These are the most recent in a string of attacks on Scandinavian nations in general by Islamic Radicalisms.
The two attacks were carried out simultaneously, and both targeted the ruling class Labor Party. A gunman opened fire in a youth camp while a bomb exploded in an office building in the Norwegian capital. The Prime minister was scheduled to speak at the youth camp the day of the shootings. Coincidence? Definitely not.
Okay, so first off, the reason this took so long is because I was trying to make a commercial for this event in After Effects, but I am no good at motion editing. I give up, and here is the failed commercial:
As you can see, imported elements rendered to brown. I don’t know how to correct this….

Postal 3… Why have you left us?
WHYYY?!
WWHHHHYYYYY?!
I really fucking wanted that game. It should have been done by now…
In case you are at a loss to comprehend my rantings; Postal 2 (a game by RWS Studios) was possibly THE most fucked up game to come out at its time of release in 2003. Subsequently, RWS announced a Postal 3. Unfortunately it was announced in 2006, and scheduled for release in the 3rd Q of 2010. It is now 3rd Q 2011. I’m thinking vapor-ware. Anyways, I did a little investigative journalism on where Postal 3 is, whats holding it up, and who’s to blame.
Well I tested out Catherine today… Not at all what I expected.
First off, this is not a review. If you have been a moderately frequent reader, you would know that I am review-happy. Hell, I even review games that are way past their time of relevance. I am not reviewing Catherine because I only got a small sample of it: not enough to fully evaluate it, but enough to make some concise conclusions.
Okay so Catherine surprised me in many ways. First off, let me state that I went into this rather blind. I knew nothing of the game outside of some story elements. Here is what stood out to me.
Catherine is a puzzle game! YEA I KNOW! Freaky right? The game consists of long scripted semi-interactive cutscenes that lead into puzzle challenges. Second thing that shocked me. ITS FUCKING HARD. I mean FUCK. Even easy mode kicked the crap outa me. Third thing: Its REALLY fucking artsy. The story is well scripted, well depicted and gripping. Its like your playing through an anime series… and a damn good one. Finally, what surprised me was that the story was influenced by the decisions you make while playing. every so often, you are given the opportunity to chose your words. what you say could decide your fate.
