Max Payne Coming To iOS, Android

Rockstar’s porting the original PC version of Max Payne, to iOS (iPhone, iPad), and Android devices in what looks to become a trend. If Max Paynes Android port is similar to Grand Theft Auto 3′s Android port on a technical level, then you can expect to be able to use PC mods, just as you can in Grand Theft Auto 3 (Android)

But enough speculation, here’s what Rockstar has confirmed:

“Max Payne Mobile has been optimized for both iOS and Android devices and features HD graphics, high-resolution textures, Social Club connectivity and user-customizable controls.

A list of compatible Android devices hasn’t been released yet, but here’s a list of all compatible iOS devices:

“Max Payne Mobile on iOS supports the iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPod Touch 4, iPad 1, iPad 2 and the new iPad.”

Max Payne Mobile is hitting iOS April 12th, and Android April 26th.

Apple Pulls Supposed Pedophile iOS Game

iOS tower defence game ‘Childhood’s End’ was taken off the App Store because Apple thought the games name, and teddy bear character pictured on the right:

“might be a recruiting tool for paedophiles”

Ya, apparently pedophiles are recruiting; so sign up at your nearest Craigslist signup station now potential kid diddlers!

The developer Pixel Brain was able to get Childhood’s End back on the App Store, only after editing the bear (seen on the right) to look less like internet superstar Pedobear (left) which is ridiculous since Childhood’s Ends bear holds very few similarities to Pedobear.

Play L.A Noire On Your Android

If you’ve been paying close enough attention to the world of gaming for the last couple years, you’re probably aware of OnLive, a service that lets you play the highest-end games on your low-end computer by processing the game on their servers, while streaming the user controlled video feed to your computer. Last year OnLive released mobile apps so you could perform the same process with  your Android, or iOS device, this was a smart move, but doesn’t work well on the majority of phones, and tablets due to the lack of actual buttons, and instead were controlled via on screen touch-buttons; which quite frankly blow.

Well now OnLive, and Rockstar have worked together to release a version of the award winning graphical juggernaut L.A Noire that’s optimized for touch screens. It’s available  now via the OnLive mobile app for Android which you can download here as long as your device is compatible.

Android Humble Bundle

I recently (just now) purchased the Humble Bundle for Android, I attempted to give them 10 cents for all 4 titles (Swords, and Soldiers included if you beat the $6 or so average) and this image above popped up, so apparently I’m an asshole for trying to rip off starving indie developers, and charity (don’t think I have a leg to stand on in arguing that sentiment actually)

Either way, I ended up ponying up $1 (still not a good guy, I allocated 100% to the developers, none to charity) for the Humble Bundle, why? because $1 is cheap, and this image above made me laugh, and feel good bad about myself all at the same time.

So for $1 I received:

  • Canabalt
  • Zen Bound 2
  • Cogs
  • Avadon: The Black Fortress
  • Swords And Soldiers (current price to pay for Swords and Soldiers to be included: $6.30)

The nice thing about this bundle is that it’s DRM free, and paying the $1+ fee grants you access to: Android, Steam, Windows, Linux, and Mac versions of all the games. And downloading any of these is as easy as opening your email, or simply saving the link provided. Buying these games separately would apparently run you $57, also you get the soundtrack for: Canabalt, Swords and Soldiers, and Zen Bound 2.

Super Meat Boy Coming To Android, Maybe iPhone

The guys behind Super Meat Boy (Team Meat) have long rallied against, and bitched out the controls on touch screen devices, while also throwing a lot of criticism at Apple, and their app store.

Well Team Meat recently confirmed via their Twitter account that Super Meat Boy is being rebuilt, and developed for touch screen devices, here’s some handy fun facts we know about the touch title so far:

  1. This prototype will not play like SMB!
  2. It will be a re-envisioning of SMB remade from scratch for touch. we aren’t half assing this if it turns out to be fun.
  3. If you liked SMB im sure you will enjoy this (if its good enough to continue on :) ) we just had a few cool ideas and wanted a challange
  4. If it turns out it sucks, we will act like it never happened and move on to the next idea :)
  5. It wont be a simple game like “doodle jump” it will be a larger more traditional game.
  6. IT WONT CONTROL LIKE SMB!!! we promise you we wont make a game with shitty touch controls.

Team Meats smartphone Super Meat Boy entry will likely release on Android, and possibly iOS if the team has gotten over their past iOS criticism, course money often throws personal opinions aside, and iOS is the second largest smartphone platform/audience after all.
