Yakuza: Of The End Looks Familiar

When I say Yakuza, you probably think of Japanese gangsters doing what gangsters do best: murder, extort, persuade, and sell drugs/women. Well Yakuza: Of The End says “Fuck that shit man. Zombies where its at!”

The oldschool styles of the franchise fall to the wayside to make way for… well this big fellow here:

BOOMER HERE

Because, lets face it, this dude needs a lot of space. All in all, it looks very Left for Dead-esque. But when you think of it, could you ask for a better crossover? I mean mobsters versus fucking zombies? Its in-fucking-credible that the developers had the balls to go so far off into left field with their franchise! I cant wait for the North American port.

Oh and by the way, a demo for this game is already available on the PSN.

Thats right! As of today, you can download the zombie-infected demo! Its hidden though. What you need to do is create a Japanese PSN ID and log onto their store. Only then can you download this tasty rotting morsel and test it out. Keep in mind that you will have no fucking clue whats going on however, because its in Japanese…

P.S. Good luck navigating their fucking weird PSN Store.

OTRSPOD: Cheaper than Dirt

Penny Arcade’s “On The Rain Slick Precipice of Darkness” is on sale on the PSN (and I would hazard a guess that its on sale on XBL too). You get both Episode 1 &2 for the cheaper-than-dirt price of 3 dollars (USD)! I command thou to go forth and purchase these games!

Penny Arcade, the masterminds behind the 20 year running videogame news/comic website (www.penny-arcade.com) made two videogames recently with the help of Hothead. These games (EP. 1&2) are a fabulous adventure in comedy in the form of a turn-style RPG. You play as… you, but you play along side Tycho and Gabe (private detectives) who specialize in paranormal disturbances. After your home gets crushed by the king of the Fruit Fuckers (yes, this game is rated M) you join forces with the detectives to pay back vengeance against the metal monsters.

At launch, both games were $10 a peace, but due to poor sales, both games are now dirt cheap. For the life of me, I can’t understand why these games aren’t selling well…. I loved both of them!

AND TO ILLUSTRATE A POINT:

Dirt= $8

Cheap = $3

Seriously, you have no excuse

Better hurry though. This deal will probably not last longer than a week!

Hero of Sparta Mini Review

PSN Price 4.99 Ps+ Price: Free

Download: 47mb

Platforms: PSN, DS, IOS

Hey there, do you like God of War? You do? Great, what would you say if I told you Gameloft completely ripped off the entire concept, and gameplay.

Still sounds good right? Well lets ask Gameloft how they can improve on God Of War’s winning formula…….*crickets* I’ve gotta put this out here right now, Gameloft does NOTHING to try to build upon what God of War did, in fact it feels like an extremely stripped down SHAMELESS god of war rip off. The graphics are ass (think ps1) the controls are light attack, and heavy attack. The controls are the big draw back to the game in my opinion they feel quite slow and sluggish.

Also the game only gives you the illusion of platforming. You walk towards a gap….your guy auto jumps, then there’s points where you’ll need to jump to a different location you don’t hold the analog stick in any direction you simply push “X” when it tells you to (yes it prompts you to jump each time)

I have to admit I’m writing this game with an extreme amount of bias (could ya tell?) I enjoy the God of War games, they really are quite high quality, so when a game like Hero of Sparta comes into play, and rips off such a good franchise while doing it so poorly you can’t help but not like it. Hell I tried playing the Mini on both my psp, and Ps3 but both places it felt pointless especially since both the Ps3, and Psp have been graced by excellent GOW titles.

I can’t recommend playing this game on the psp or ps3, however if you have a jail broken Ipod and nothing else to play then you could probably get some joy out of playing this if you had absolutely nothing else to play, the game definitely works, and might be able to scratch an Ipod owners GOW itch to a small degree but there’s much much better titles on the Psp, Ps3, and DS to ever recommend this.

Fucked O-Meter ***_______3/10 (think toned down GOW violence)

Rating: 5/10
